Chelsea Wolfe Gigposter

I’m thrilled to present you my first art collaboration with the VERY talented Ally Burke for the upcoming Chelsea Wolfe show in Austin, Texas.

If you are not familiar with Chelsea Wolfe or Ally Burke please, do yourself a favor, and visit their websites, buy Chelsea’s music, and Ally’s artwork. They are both incredibly talented artists.

I will be screen printing this poster very soon, please check back if you would like to see photos of the screen printing process.

New projects / ideas

New posters are on the horizon. Aside from a couple of projects with 2 independent artists, I’m alsowaiting on a confirmation for a local show by a not-so-local band that’s playing early next year (crossing my fingers to get it approved. On a different front,  I’m also working on a poster to celebrate Morrissey’s 2013 US Tour… just to be clear, Morrissey’s poster is NOT an official poster for the tour, so please don’t e-mail me to get you in touch with Moz or his camp, I’m just a BIG fan and they are as untouchable to me as they are to you.

I’m planning on donating a percentage of the Moz posters to a pro-animal organization. Please let me know if you have any suggestions (I know Moz supports PETA, but I’d be willing to hear you out some ideas… maybe something local?).

I should be uploading Morrissey’s design by early December.

Keep it misterioso.

The MELVAN!

=================================================

As some of you know already, the fine folks at Transmission Entertainment were pleased with my poster design for the upcoming show at the Mohawk and are using it to promote the show.

I will screen-print a limited edition of 18″x24″ – 4 inks posters to have available online, and if the band allows it, at the venue.

For this poster I will use fluorescent ink for the band name (orange)  but I will also try to print a bunch of green ones. I’m really stoked to see the posters finished, I like the design, the colors, but most importantly, I really like the Melvins!!!!

8/27 Update – The films are ready to burn thanks to the nice people who are running Damon’s shop (Porkchop).  You can see a photo of them right here.

I have to reclaim my screens and get them burned by my buddy Glenn @RipAndDestroy (visit his website and buy some of his posters!).

9/24 Update – 2 out of 3 screens burned and ready to go.  Planning on screen printing these over the weekend. Here’s a PHOTO of one of the screens…

Shonen Knife Poster

The Shonen Knife posters have been screen printed and will be ready for Thursday’s show at the Red 7. I’m looking forward to meet the band members and have the posters available at the show. I would like to hear some classic SK tunes, a few Ramones covers, and some of their new stuff too.

Summer Time

UPDATE 7/12/12

After slaying summer courses left and right El Chamuco is back and ready to get down and dirty…. next in line is the SHONEN KNIFE poster for their triumphant return to the Red 7.  More updates on the Shonen Knife process soon.

Additionally El Chamuco has a couple of top secret projects with not only one, but 2 talented artists in their field. Looking forward to share more info as these 2 different projects take form.

In the meantime, enjoy the music on the right hand side and for the Flying Spaghetti Monster’s sake… buy some posters from the store!

Keep it misterioso!

————————————————-

June 26: Chamuco ATX will not be updated for a couple of weeks as he will be fighting epic battles versus stupid deadlines, work, and team projects not related to the magical world of screen printing.

In the meantime, enjoy the new section on the right menu… The Chamuco will be changing the music selection every now and then.

Keep it misterioso.

Screen Printing Process: Beat Connection

I will be updating this post throughout the week as I start screen printing the Beat Connection posters. The burning process was quite successful thanks to my buddy Glenn @ ripdanddestroy.com and his sweet DIY setup at home. We were worried that some of the fine details in one of the films were not going to be burned but everything came out just great.

I have a lot of homework to do but hopefully I’ll be screen printing these by Friday evening. I’m thinking about printing a limited edition of maybe 30-40 signed and numbered prints.

UPDATE 6/17/12

I finished printing these last night and let me tell you that the they weren’t the easiest posters to print! I had a series of issues during the process, one of them being that the ink was drying fast on one the edges and it kept happening over and over again.  My issue was that the vacuum was blowing air and the stream kept drying that area. Stupid vacuum!!

Due to the fact that I ruined a bunch of paper I was limited to print a small number of posters, I believe I would have around 30 solid prints ready for the show on Thursday.

The process was not easy but the end result was awesome… I’m really digging the colors!
